JoJo is the rare long-running franchise where release order and chronological order are identical — each part is a direct generational sequel. Start with Phantom Blood (only 9 episodes) and go straight through. Do NOT skip Part 1 despite its short length; Dio, the Joestar bloodline, and the lore all originate there. The 1993 and 2007 OVAs of Stardust Crusaders are optional; the 2014 TV adaptation is the canonical watch. Parts 7 (Steel Ball Run) and 8 (JoJolion) are not animated as of 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Phantom Blood is only 9 episodes and sets up Dio, the Stone Mask, and the entire Joestar bloodline that drives Parts 2 and 3. Skipping it ruins the payoff of Stardust Crusaders.
